Questions, house rules and all the stuff you need (hopefully).
How do you pay?
We operate in the pre-payment mode. For a confirmed reservation, we require payment in advance.
For stays longer than 7 nights, you may make 50% of the payment in advance, and the remaining when you check in.
Documents you need
We will need a valid, original photo-identity card at the time of checking in. This means your passport or Aadhaar or your voter card. PAN card is not accepted. You can email us the soft copy beforehand provided it is clearly visible. We decide if it is visible 🙂 and we may request you for a clearer copy if it does not suffice.
Check-in, check-out, other information
Check-in: 13:00 - 21:00 hours (I pm - 9 pm)
Check-out: 11 am (please ask in advance for any requests)
Please note that we do *not* have a 24-hour desk, which means you can leave and enter the property between 06:00 hours and 23:00 hours (6 am to 11 pm). The gate is closed between the hours of 11 pm and 6 am.
Visitors
Visitors are not permitted. If you have visitors, they must be booked as guests and paid for. All visitors, even if they do not stay overnight, must enter their names and govt IDs on the guest register. We are not a hotel, this is a family-run guesthouse and these are private premises. You must treat it as such.
No alcohol, drugs, cigarettes
This is a no-smoking, no drinking, no drugs establishment. We are not here to judge you nor police you. But we expect you to follow the rules. Please drink outside in the area's many pubs and restaurants.
Please go down to smoke, and make sure you don't litter the stubs. Throw them in a trash can or a waste area.
How to cancel?
You can let us know by email. The addresses are given on the first page and below. Cancellation is free until 48 hours before check-in. Thereafter, you forfeit the first night's price.
Do you have food?
Aside from the breakfast, our kitchens have hot kettles and you are welcome to make a cup of tea or coffee, pop some bread into the toaster. This is a family home however, and you will have to keep the kitchen as clean as you find it. There are no staff to clean up after you, and we won't be nannies after you either. However, we are firm.
We offer home-cooked Bengali meals on order.
Meanwhile, Swiggy and Zomato and Uber Eats are in your hands to deliver the world to you 🙂 You will have to go down and collect the food when they deliver however.
We will help you with cafes nearby, as well as nice, basic eateries.
Parties, film shoots, et cetera
We do not permit parties or get-togethers.
Regarding film shoots, we do not permit more than six persons access to the premises at a time. For each such shift or shoot, all persons accessing the property must book and pay. For instance, if 12 persons are involved in a shoot, we will allow no more than six persons at our premises on a single day. If you plan to come and go from the premises every day, then you can only do so between 7 am and 8 pm. You can stay overnight of course, but we will not open the gates for late-night shoots between 8 pm and 7 am.
Due to the Covid19 pandemic, every single person in the crew who is permitted inside must furnish a full vaccination certificate, and if that is not available, a negative RT-PCR test report issued within the past 72 hours of checking-in.
Laundry
We have a washing-machine that you can use for a nominal fee of Rs 150 (subject to be used twice a week). We have a pressing board where you can iron your clothes. We have a superb terrace where you can dry your clothes organically 🙂 and do your yoga/push-ups while waiting for them to dry.
We can also point you to the local laundry and press services.
All up to you.
If you want us to do your laundry, we shall do that at a price. Rate chart available in house.
Breakfast
Basic fresh breakfast will be laid out between 9 and 10:30 am, and the food will be cleared after 11 am.
If you need to eat earlier, we will try our best to accommodate your request, but you must communicate your request in writing including the time you would like to eat at least 24 hours in advance. Preferably on email and by Whatsapp. Please note that this will be along the lines of cornflakes and milk or bread and cheese. Not hot prepared breakfast.
We are not able to serve complimentary breakfast after 10:30 am.
Doctors/Meds/Hospitals
This is a residential area with a number of doctors around us. We keep a list of local doctors on call, and hospitals and nursing homes nearby. And of course, a first-aid box is available for minor cuts, and sprains.
Getting Around
Boi-er Baari is Google-mapped and Uber and Ola are at our doorstep. If you like to use public transport, there are autos right around the corner.
The metro station, Karunamoyee, is five-seven minutes' walk from our house. The station is also a bus terminal, where you get to sit comfortably on a bus (as against getting in midway and jostling for a seat/space/your toes). Plenty of other options like shared cabs et cetera too.
Fitness
We have a large terrace which is accessible to all our guests and us. You can do your yoga, your floor exercises or pilates or whatever. Plus, we are in a quiet, green residential area that is excellent to run in the mornings and evenings. That's what we do.
We also have a treadmill.
My question is not here
Please do ask us over email. We shall do our best to help.
